The safety kart will remain on the track for the amount of laps the starter feels necessary. Karts not leaving the out grid in order (not starting) will go rear of field. A kart may be held if not starting on the out grid by the out grid Marshall, if the Marshall deems it to dangerous to join the field prior to the start. This kart or karts may go 1 or more laps down prior to racing begins. The full track can be used for weaving of karts. No passing is permitted whilst in this starting procedure and behind a safety kart, unless instructed to do so. Starting is immediate when the safety kart driver raises his hand (weaving to stop) and pulls into the breakdown lane. Starting will be single file with no passing permitted prior to the start line (transponders will be used). Any kart baulking and not starting in uniform position and spacing may be penalized.

Compulsory Pit Stops
Three compulsory pit stops of twelve minutes will be taken during the 4 hour event. 12 minute pit stops can not be taken back to back, the kart must be returned to complete a circuit from the Out Grid to the In Grid under its own power before the next 12 minute break can be taken. No twelve minute stop can be taken after the 3 hours and forty five minutes.
On entering the in grid, the In Grid Marshal will attach a red sticker with your kart number and a time that is twelve minutes in advance of the time the kart is presented to him. It is this time the kart will be allowed to return to the track unless a red flag comes out. It is desirable that a pit crew member should forewarn where possible of the imminent arrival of their kart to the In Grid Marshal.
If the kart is taking a six minute stop (white sticker) and it is found that a twelve minute stop is required the kart is to be presented back to the in grid official who will then place a ten minute sticker over the white five minute sticker with a new time. (twelve minutes after the initial arrival) Should the kart have already received its three twelve minute red stickers it will not get a fourth red sticker. The In Grid Marshal will record all times of which karts are to depart from the out grid that will co inside with the time written on the sticker.
The In Grid Marshal is a Judge of Fact
Out Grid
Grid B will be used for all exits from the pit area. Crews are only allowed on the grid to place the kart. The crew must vacate this area immediately the kart has been placed on the grid. The Out Grid Marshal will indicate after referring to the karts red or white sticker the exit time. The kart’s engine can not be started until the out grid marshal has indicated the return to the track. The kart must be started with the it’s on board starting system, should the kart not start a crew member may start the kart with an external starter. Under a Safety Kart (SK) situation the grid marshal may hold a kart until the SK has passed the grid exit in excess of the 6 minute or 12 minute sticker. When safe the grid marshal can allow the kart to be started and re join the field allowing the kart to circulate in a safe manor to the rear of the field with out passing fellow competitors. Where the field is spread a kart may be allowed to enter the race track. When the kart is on the track proper the kart will be allowed to hold that position unless indicated otherwise by an Official, Flag Marshal or SK driver.
The Out Grid Marshal is a Judge of Fact.
Safety Kart. (SK)
The Safety Kart will be deployed under the supervision of the Out Grid Marshal, only after He has received instructions from the Clerk of Course. Once the SK signs have been displayed the B grid will be closed until the SK has exited from the area in front of the break down lane.. Only after the exit of the SK will competitors be allowed to exit from Grid B. When the SK is on the track no competitor will be allowed to pass it. Therefore the position on the track and not the race position of where the kart enters must be retained unless other wise indicated by the driver of the SK, this will be done by waving the kart/karts through until the lead kart or the nominate kart is directly behind the safety kart. The first competitor one or more laps down will be shown a board with their number this competitor will be allowed a free pass of the safety kart to join the rear of the field this is called the lucky dog pass. This board will be displayed from below the starters platform with LD (kart number) The track will be assumed to be under full yellow if any SK signs are displayed.
The safety kart will pull off the track by means of the break down lane indicating competitors will get a green lights, Re starts after the SK has left the track will be the same as under a Red Light re start as per rule16.11(d)3.
A nominated kart by way of a black board displayed with that karts number will be displayed at the start line for information of the SK driver. The safety kart will have radio communication.
Pit Area
Will have a pit area marshal who is an official and shall be obeyed as such.
Pit area will be the area used for all refueling and kart maintenance. Only the drivers and pit crew members are allowed in this area. Only the two drivers and pit crew members are allowed to work on the kart in this area. Only under special circumstance where it is safer or special tooling is required is a kart allowed to leave this area. For a kart to leave this area permission is required from the Clerk of Course and where possible the Clerk of Course should appoint an overseer to accompany the kart whilst out of the regulation pit area.
Engine Start Area
The Engine start area will be the areas known as the normal impound area that is use in front of the scrutineering shed. The karts must enter via the weigh in shed as the gate will be locked.
Red Flag.
If a red flag is required karts are to either enter the break down lane or the in grid for a service stop. On displaying a red flag the out grid marshal shall close the B grid out gate and proceed to the pit area and instruct all pit crew and drivers to leave the pit area immediately irrespective of what work is being carried out. Any Kart traveling on a trolley between the pit area and Grid B will be place in single file in order of arrival on grid B. The drivers and crew are to immediately vacate themselves from grid B.
Karts coming into the breakdown lane must stay to the right side of the lane; drivers are to stay with their karts during the red flag no driver change can take place in the break down lane. No pit crew assistance is allowed. No pit crews or drivers are to enter grid B with the exception to place a kart (in the initial stages) People breaking this rule will be penalized with a time penalty at the discretion of the Clerk of Course. Karts entering the pit lane during the Red flag will be issued a minimum 5 minute white sticker. The karts will be placed on a trolley but must be left in the in grid area until the yellow light is on and the out grid marshal has allowed the exit from the breakdown lane of karts. The crews and drivers must not work on the kart on the in grid, karts must be placed on their trolleys and crews and drivers are to leave the in grid. The in grid marshal shall place a mark on the red or white sticker with the time indicating that this is a true time of entry after a red.
The out grid marshal and Clerk of Course are to liaise on what was the time the red light came on as to calculate and add on time to the karts that were in the pit area when the crew had to vacate. i.e. if a kart had an exit time of 10.40 and the a red light came on for 20 minutes the out grid marshal will ad a theoretical 20 minute to this time therefore the kart can only re join at 11am
Returning to Yellow from a Red
When the lights change from Red to Yellow and drivers and crews can return to their karts in the pit area and to pick them up from the In Grid. The SK will pick up the lead kart from the break down lane (not necessary the overall leader) and hold the karts at a reasonable speed to allow for the competitors to form a tight formation and reasonable engine temperature to be reached. A restart will be a rolling start with karts entering from the breakdown lane and then karts if any from grid B, after the karts that have exited from the breakdown lane.
Karts must be started under their own on board starting mechanism from the breakdown lane. Should these karts require an external starter or assistance this will only be done after the karts have left from grid B. A Karts engine not starting in the breakdown lane shall be overtaken in the breakdown lane only by instruction of the Out Grid Marshal. This kart will loose track position and will hold its new position on entering the track. No kart will be waved past the SK on the return to yellow. Like wise no kart will pass any other kart under yellow or before the start line when the lights return to green.
Flag Points
Any Flag Points that displays a SK sign is indicating a full course yellow (no passing of any mobile kart). Any Flag Point displaying a RV sign is indicating that the SK is in operational, a full course yellow is in action and the RV is either on the track, operating or about to enter the track. A kart deemed to be blocking or deliberately holding another competitor up, in the opinion of the Clerk of Course or a Steward will be shown a waved blue flag. Should a competitor ignore three blue flags the competitor will be shown the bad sportsmanship flag with their number. Should the competitor ignore the blue flag after the bad sportsmanship flag the Clerk of Course may issue a black flag or impose a time penalty.
Lights
A Green light will indicate a start and racing.
A Yellow light will indicate a full course yellow
A Red light will indicate return to the pits with no passing at any stage of any mobile kart ref rule book 2009.
No lights will indicate a power failure and flags of the same colour as the lights will be displayed from the starter’s platform or below the starter’s platform
Flags
A Black flag will indicate a return to the In Grid, and a driver change must take place with the driver that has been shown the black flag reporting immediately to the Clerk of Course. A 6 minutes stop will be incurred and no work or refueling will be allowed.
The Mechanical defect flag will indicate that a fault has been detected to the kart or drivers apparel. The suspect kart must return to the pit area via the In Grid and not the Break Down Lane. A minimum 6 minute pit stop will be applied; a 10 minute compulsory stop can be taken.
