KARTING TO FEATURE ON FOX SPORTS NEXT WEEK

The Yamaha Dunlop 45th National Sprint Kart Championships contested at Sydney’s Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway over Easter will feature on the Fox Sports Network next week.

The coverage, presented by Siemon Cabling and the Australian Karting Association, will begin on Tuesday at 1pm with a one-hour highlights package showing action from the championship finals of Junior National Heavy, Senior National Heavy, Clubman Heavy and the intense Junior Clubman category.

Adding further depth to the above four categories which will be shown on the first episode is the action-packed and controversial finish to the final of Leopard Light.

Two days later, a one-hour special will highlight all of the action from the final of the thrilling Junior National Light class along with Clubman Super Heavy, Senior National Light, Leopard Heavy and the ‘jewel in the crown’ Clubman Light.

Each of the two episodes will be shown again early on the morning of Saturday May 5 before again being replayed at the end of the month to conclude the six hours of coverage on the Fox Sports Network.

A DVD of the coverage will be made available for purchase at a later date.

KARTING – FUN AFFORDABLE MOTORSPORT

Karting is the world’s most affordable form of motorsport.

Many people associate it with young drivers, but adults are also very active in karting.

Karting is considered the first step in any serious racer's career. It can prepare the driver for high-speed wheel-to-wheel racing by helping develop quick reflexes, precision car control, and decision-making skills.

People of all ages can enjoy the sport with children as young as seven competing behind the wheel. Karting teaches these children, both boys and girls, the basic driving skills well before they are able to obtain their road licence.

As is the case in all sports, karting is competitive, but it is also fun, family-orientated, teaches driving skills, offers people an opportunity to gain a career in motorsport, all in a safe and professionally organised environment.

Getting into karting is relatively simple. You need to become a member of your local kart club and start out on a provisional licence. Buying a kart has also been made a lot simpler thanks to the professional trade industry that serves the karters of Australia.

Kart race meetings take place at circuits across Australia every weekend and are either a club, regional, state or national level meeting.
