Dear Karter,

 

Thank you to all those drivers who have entered the 2008 AKA National Sprint Kart Championships being held at the Launceston Kart Club. Thank you also to our major sponsor, Yamaha Motor Australia.

 

This year’s nationals have received a really pleasing 292 entries. We have 10 classes running. They are: Junior National Light and Heavy, Junior Clubman, Clubman Light, Heavy and Super Heavy, Senior National Light and Heavy, Leopard Light and Heavy.

 

The final entry list is featured on the LKC website.

 

The order of racing and practice will be as follows:

JNL, CH, CSH, JC, SNH, CL, JNH, SNL, LH, LL.

 

We would like to advise you the following. Please read and observe.

 

1/ There will be no camping permitted on site throughout the week

 

2/ Security guards will be on site on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from 8pm to 6am. The entire facility will be closed during this period.

 

3/ There will be no charge for practice.

 

4/ The track opening hours are as follows:

 

Monday 17th                Gates open from 7am to 7pm.

                                    Pit allocation from 7am to 5pm

                                    Practice from 9am to 5pm sharp.

           

Tuesday 18th                Gates open from 6am to 7pm.

                                    Pit allocation from 7.30am to 5pm

                                                Practice from 9am to 5pm        

 

Wednesday 19th          Gates open from 6am to 7pm.

                                    Practice from 9am to 5pm.         

            Entry confirmation from 9am to 5pm

Pit allocation from 7.30am to 5pm

                                                Scrutineering from 12 noon to 5pm.

           

Thursday 20th               Gates open 6am to 7pm

Entry Confirmation from 8am to 5pm

Scrutineering from 8am to 5pm

Tyre Pick up from 12 noon to 5pm.

Engine ‘Run In’ only from 8am to 9am.

Practice in order of program from 9am to 5pm

Friday 21st                   Gates open 6.30am to 8pm

Entry Confirmation from 7am to 7.30am

Scrutineering from 7am to 7.45am

Tyre pick up from 7am to 8am

                                                Carby session 8am to 9.15am

                                                Drivers briefing and official opening at 9.30am

                                                Timed qualifying immediately following opening.

                                                Racing commences at end of time qualifying.                 

 

Saturday 22nd               Gates open from 6am to 8pm

Carby session for all classes from 8am

These times will be strictly adhered to.

 

 

5/ Canteen opening hours

 

            Monday                       10am to 4pm

Tuesday                       10am to 4pm

            Wednesday to Sunday             

                        * Egg and Bacon breakfast available from 6am to 8am

                        (incs egg/bacon rolls, fruit juices, flavoured milk,

tea, coffee, and Milo)

* Canteen open from 8am.

 

6/ Presentations and Dinner.

 

            Will be held in the big marquee from 6pm on Sunday night.

 

Tickets for dinner must be purchased from the canteen before close on Saturday night   

 

Dinner costs just $20.00. ($10.00 for under 12s)         

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

6/ Pit Areas

 

·        A 3m x 3m pit area has been allocated for each entry.

·        All drivers MUST report to the Pit Marshall before pitting.

·        Trevor Parker is the Pit Marshall and can be found riding in the golf buggy

·        Strictly NO vehicles are permitted to park in the pit area. No exceptions!

·        Please advise us immediately if you have any pitting requirements

 

 

7/  CONFIRMATION OF ENTRIES.

 

·        All drivers must confirm entry.

·        All drivers receive a complimentary program

·        Passes or arm bands are required for access to the track and grid.

·        Arm bands for pit crew grid access can be purchased for $1.00 per day.

 

8/ TYRE POOLING

 

·        Tyre Pooling is being used for all classes

·        Tyres will be available for collection Thursday afternoon.

 

9/ NUMBER CHANGES

 

Please note that some driver’s kart numbers have been changed due to duplication of numbers. Please check the website for your race number.

 

10/ FUEL

 

Please note the addendum regarding fuel. The only fuel permitted for the Australian Championships will be 98 Octane BP Ultimate. This fuel must be purchased from BP Invermay, 32 Invermay Road, Launceston, and must be purchased from Wednesday 19th to Sunday 23rd March. BP Invermay is open 24 hours.

 

Dumping of fuel is permitted at the track.
